Summer is now two months gone! But the sun won’t officially set on the season until Sept. 22, so there’s still time to make (or keep making) this your best summer yet.

Having the right soundtrack can help. Here, then, are five of our favorite new summer anthems for 2024 that you should add to your playlist:

  1. Nate Barnes, “Love in the Country”

In this breezy come-on to his lover, Barnes wants to share a summer night together under the stars.

Written by country powerhouses Ryan Hurd, Jordan Schmidt, Ernest Smith and Geoffrey Warburton, “Love in the Country” is an irresistible jam with a back-porch groove and the undeniable hook of summer love.

It’s the first song from Barnes’ full-length debut album with Quartz Hill Records, slated for release in early 2025.

  2. Maddie & Tae, “Sad Girl Summer”

Don’t let the downcast title fool you. This banjo-plucking, post-breakup banger showcases Maddie & Tae’s signature harmonies with an upbeat message about moving on.

The multi-platinum duo aren’t about to let a “bummer of a boy” ruin their fun in the sun:

I know that a broken heart hurts like a mother But this ain't no Sad Girl Summer

  3. Kenny Chesney, “Just to Say We Did”

Summer was made for road trips and seeking out new adventures. Why? “Just to Say We Did,” according to Chesney.

Co-written with Brett James, David Lee Murphy and Matt Dragstrem, Chesney’s fearless tune takes listeners on a carefree cruise from Knoxville to Myrtle Beach to Vegas.

“Just to Say We Did” is from the new album Born, featuring a summer-ready Chesney on the cover.

  4.  Harper Grace, “Getaway”

Like Chesney, Grace is up for a road trip in this spirited pop-country offering.

Though the song’s lyrics don’t actually mention summer, the song’s breezy production hits you like a warm summer wind.

Fueled by young love, endless highway and a fearless sense of adventure, Grace wants to press the gas on a relationship that feels like an escape.

5. Drew Parker, “Better on a Boat”

This song is probably better on a boat, but it’s a fun listen on dry land as well.

Taken from the GRAMMY-nominated hitmaker’s full-length debut album, Camouflage Cowboy, Parker’s “Better on a Boat” is a high-energy summer singalong about enjoying one of life’s simple pleasures.

Parker co-wrote “Better on a Boat” with Dan Isbell (Luke Combs, Darius Rucker) and Jacob Rice (Jon Pardi, Jason Aldean).
