Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean made an unexpected stop at the White House before taking the stage in Washington, D.C.

Ahead of their Thursday, Aug. 20, concert at Nationals Park, the country stars visited the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room, where both singers took turns behind one of the most recognizable podiums in American politics. Bryan leaned into the moment, joking with people in the room and fielding a mock question from Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins.

When Rollins asked Bryan about the New World screwworm situation in South Texas, he responded, “I think the screwworms are screwed,” before showing that he had apparently been paying attention during conversations with officials earlier in the day.

The stop came as Bryan and Aldean brought their Double Down Tour 2026 to Nationals Park, with Dylan Scott and Dasha supporting the Washington date. The four-show stadium run began Aug. 1 at Washington-Grizzly Stadium in Missoula, Montana, and also includes Petco Park in San Diego and a Dec. 11 finale at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The stadium run grew out of Bryan and Aldean’s sold-out April concert at Sanford Stadium at the University of Georgia, where the two Georgia natives reunited for a massive hometown-style show. The response led to the limited Double Down stadium run, built around two decades of hits from both artists.

Both singers have plenty happening outside the joint dates. Bryan is currently balancing the Double Down shows with his own Word on the Street Tour, which continues through the fall. Aldean, meanwhile, is in the middle of his Songs About Us Tour 2026, with dates scheduled through September before he and Bryan reunite for the Las Vegas Double Down finale.

Naturally, a visit to the White House also comes with a political layer to the lives of these busy performers.

Earlier Thursday, Bryan reportedly spent time with Vice President JD Vance and second lady Usha Vance, along with Rollins and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum. Reports described the visit as informal, and the briefing-room footage showed the singers joking rather than making speeches or policy statements.

For Aldean, however, appearing at President Donald Trump’s White House is not exactly unfamiliar territory. Aldean has been an outspoken Trump supporter for years and performed at the Liberty Ball following Trump’s 2025 inauguration. He previously described himself as a “big supporter” of Trump and has spent time with him outside of political events as well.

Bryan did not use Thursday’s appearance to make an explicit political statement. Instead, his most viral moment from the visit involved an agriculture question, a few jokes and temporarily taking over the White House briefing-room podium.
