Ella Langley is one of country music's biggest stars. At the 59th Annual CMA Awards Ella Langley achieved a historic triple win for her hit song "You Look Like You Love Me" (featuring Riley Green), taking home Single of the Year, Song of the Year, and Music Video of the Year. The song became the first to sweep four categories across two years, including the 2024 Musical Event of the Year. Since then, Ella Langley has been cemented as country music hottest new act. Listeners eagerly awaited for the drop of his sophomore album "Dandelion" which dropped on April 9th.

Dandelion is Ella Langley at her most honest — a sophomore record that leans into growth, grit, and self-discovery. The album is rooted in traditional country but layered with modern texture. Ella is brilliant to use dandelion as a metaphor for resilience and being overlooked but still thriving and maturing. The project is full of catchy melodies, honest lyrics, and commercial production that will make this record one of the best in country music. We took a listen down and ranked every single song on the record. Here we go!

16. SPEAKING TERMS

Ella recently spoke out about her journey with faith and this song cuts right to the core. The chorus lines, “If your answer’s in the silence I’ll be patient/ But it’s hard to know my prayers are being heard,” Ella gets vulnerable but relatable. While other songs on the record hold more commercial appeal, this is true Ella Langley at its core.

15. YOU & ME TIME

Ella has a soulful, pop-leaning sound with bluesy guitar licks. This song has swagger and sexiness with a laid-back groove. There’s a quiet confidence to it and a come-closer kind of energy. “Turn a record on / Take a layer off,” she sings, easing into a moment that feels both intimate and long overdue.

14. BROKEN

One of the more soulful, groovy songs on the record. The best part of this song... the snare tone! The production sits back and lets you sink into the smooth delivery of Ella's vocals. The chorus offers a sweet but sincere ask that many of us face when dealing with past relationships and struggles.

13. IT WASN’T GOD WHO MADE HONKY TONKS

Did you know this song is 70 years old? Ella decided to take the Kitty Wells’ 1952 song and put her own spin on it. She puts a modern twist on this song to make it fit for 2026 while paying respect to traditional country music.

12. SOMETHIN’ SIMPLE

Somethin’ Simple is one of the quieter moments on Dandelion. Ella Langley leans into a stripped-back, easygoing sound, letting the songwriting carry the weight rather than big production or standout hooks. There’s an honesty to it, a longing for something uncomplicated in a life that rarely is but it plays things a little too safe compared to the sharper edges found elsewhere on the record.

11. MOST GOOD THINGS DO

The second to last song on the album, Ella reflects on remembering an old boyfriend. With the chorus lyrics,

"To an evening ride through the countryside, to a dandelion on Valentine's

To crickets crying a lullaby underneath the 'Bama moon

It's hard moving on when it all reminds me of you

Hell, to tell the truth, most good things, most good things do"

Ella reminds us that while there can be pain in losing something or someone, the good parts will take with us.

10. WE KNOW US

The instrumentation and backing vocals in this song are so cool! The intro verse kicks off with background vocals that echo her words. This could be a record from the 1950s or 1960s but Ella does what Ella does.

9. I GOTTA QUIT

I Gotta Quit is one of the more relatable cuts on Dandelion — messy, self-aware, and brutally honest in a way that feels pulled straight from real life. Ella Langley leans into that push-and-pull tension of knowing something or someone isn’t good for you, but not quite being ready to walk away.

8. LOW LIGHTS

There’s something effortlessly real about this song. Instead of chasing a big moment, Low Lights leans into the in-between — the quiet conversations, the subtle tension, the kind of feelings that don’t need to be spelled out to be understood. It’s a reminder that Ella’s strength isn’t just in what she says, but in what she lets sit.

7. LAST CALL FOR US

Last Call for Us is one of the most quietly powerful moments on Dandelion, capturing that heavy, in-between space where a relationship isn’t fully over — but you know it’s close. Ella Langley leans into classic country storytelling here, using the setting of a last call to mirror emotional finality, where time’s running out and there’s nothing left to hide.

6. DANDELION

The title track of the album and it does justice. Dandelion finds Ella Langley stepping fully into who she is. While the album moves between grit and vulnerability, balancing barroom edge with quieter, reflective moments about growth, heartbreak, and independence, Dandelion feels real, like an artist figuring it out in real time and refusing to smooth over the edges to fit a mold.

5.BE HER

Be Her is Ella Langley at her most direct, sharp, self-aware, and emotionally unfiltered. The song cuts through comparison and insecurity with a quiet confidence, turning what could’ve been a vulnerable moment into a statement of identity. It’s not overly dramatic or polished; instead, it leans into honesty, letting the simplicity of the message hit harder. Be Her chorus is arguably one of the most catchy melodies on this entire record.

4. BUTTERFLY SEASON

We were all waiting for the collaboration between Miranda Lambert and Ella Langley. Beyond the friendship and mentorship Miranda has given to Ella, this pairing makes perfect sense. Miranda has long been the blueprint for unapologetic, sharp-edged female voices in country — artists who don’t soften their stories to fit the mold. Ella is cut from that same cloth. So when they come together, it doesn’t feel forced or strategic.... it feels earned.

3. LOVING LIFE AGAIN

This is a song we could all use right now. In a world full of divide, struggles, violence, and many dealing with there own personal struggles, in its simplest form, this song is a reminder to appreciate the little things in life that make it all the sweeter.

2. BOTTOM OF YOUR BOOTS

What a clever hook! Who doesn't love a good love song. This follows Ella's breakout duet with Riley Green "You Look Like You Love Me." There is no way you can listen to this song and not add it to your playlist.

1. CHOOSIN’ TEXAS

It is going to be very hard to beat Billboard's top song and Ella's biggest hit to date. Written with mentor and friend Miranda Lambert, Choosin' Texas is one of those songs that will survive decades of music to come. This song has brought new listeners to country music and made both the day 1 and new Ella Langley's fans fans that are here to stay. Oh, and if you haven't seen the music video, do us all a favor and go watch right now!
