Storage Wars icon, Darrell Sheets, also known as, “The Gambler,” has passed away on April 22nd in his Arizona home. Lake Havasu City Police Department reports that Sheets suffered from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. This comes as a huge shock to his community and fans after watching him on Storage Wars for several years, always encouraging risk-taking and the glass-half-full mentality.

Those who had been following Sheets recently have pointed to incidents surrounding a cyberbullying/cyber stalking incident that he was involved in. Sheets had made posts on social media claiming his identity had been stolen by Allison and Jim Thacker, former residents of Havasu who target small business owners. He also claims “if anything happens to me,” that it was these two individuals.
Many individuals online are now looking at these two as having an “evil” hand in the matter and calling for them to be prosecuted despite authorities ruling it a suicide. Fellow Storage Wars star, Rene Nezhoda, says Sheets was ruthlessly cyberbullied before his death and hopes this serves as a wake-up call to online trolls.
Premiering in 2010, Sheets was one of the original buyers known as the Gambler for his immense risk-taking on the show. He stayed on until 2019 after suffering a heart attack, to which he only joined the show for special appearances afterwards. Sheets’ son, Brandon, would later appear on the show and face off against his dad in the auctions. Some of Sheets’ notable finds include drawings by Pablo Picasso and a letter written by Abraham Lincoln.

We are deeply heartbroken over this incredible loss. Darrell Sheets was full of charisma and always kept us on the edge of our seats. He will be missed dearly by friends, family, loved ones, and fans across the world as he always brought “the WOW factor!” to our lives.
Reach out to your friends and loved ones often, and remember those affected by the harm of cyberbullying.
