If you know anything about country music, the name Tracy Lawrence should ring a bell.
Rising to fame in the 90’s and early 2000’s with his hit songs “Time Marches On” and “Paint Me A Birmingham”, Lawrence has graced many stages and shared incredible messages through his music.
Throughout the years, he has continued to make waves with his renowned voice and musicality. What you may not know is that Lawrence is quite the philanthropist. A recipient of the 2023 Humanitarian Award at Country Radio Seminar, Lawrence has made it his “mission” to give back.
Although Tennessee isn’t his birthplace, he’s made sure to show just how proud he is of this city and the people in it. His nonprofit organization titled “Mission:Possible” started almost 20 years ago and has helped thousands in Nashville and the surrounding areas. By providing meals and funding to the Nashville Rescue Mission, he has proven that there’s an even bigger heart beneath his powerful singing voice.
Mission:Possible has spent the last decade building up from the ground. The annual Turkey Fry started with just a handful of Tracy Lawrence’s friends.
Lawrence states, “We never had any intentions of this thing growing to where it’s at now. I don’t think we even cooked 100 turkeys that first year.”

This year, the team cooked over 1,600 turkeys and will donate another 1,000 to smaller organizations throughout the holidays. “Thanks to the Cargill poultry plants and the Turkey federation, they gave us 3000 turkeys this year so we’re cooking as many as we can,” states Lawrence.
One can only cook so many turkeys in a few days time! Upon arrival of this event, there were more turkeys than people! The smell of fresh Thanksgiving dinner aromatized through the fairgrounds as pit masters were cooking the most beautiful turkeys. The volunteers were also packing hundreds of thousands of bags filled with stuffing mix and other Thanksgiving essentials to send to people in need.

Tracy Lawrence is far from entitled when it comes to his personality. He made sure to greet everyone who walked into his Turkey Fry and thank the volunteers for coming.
Tracy says, “I never get tired of seeing all the wonderful hearts that come out that donate their time and their money and their energy. You know, there's just such a great fellowship about this whole thing. We couldn't do it without all these volunteers. It’s amazing to just see people that really just want to give back that they don't want anything out of it. They just want to give back.”
Tracy Lawrence doesn’t just give back to others during the holiday season. He spends every day of the year planning and giving back to the community. When the holidays are over, they move to their annual Golf Tournament.
“As soon as we get done with Turkey Fry, in January we’ll shift to the golf tournament and start moving all of our energy over to that. As soon as the golf tournament is done in May we switch right back to Turkey Fry, so it’s just all year.”
Tracy Lawrence has managed to combine four of his favorite things together – music, cooking, golf, and giving back to the community who’s supported his music career since the beginning. Each year he performs a concert at Category 10 (formerly The Wildhorse Saloon) where sponsors and fans can enjoy his music while raising money for the Nashville Rescue Mission. He brings musical colleagues onstage to perform alongside him as they spread love and friendship through music. The magic of the concert and the magic of helping others is more than enough reason for why these volunteers spend their time and energy on these events.

Growing up in the Texarkana area, Tracy Lawrence has only spent part of his life in
Tennessee. Lawrence says, “I think Nashville is such a great city. It has such a wonderful,
giving heart. There are so many people that really care about the community, you know, and help those people that have fallen on hard times and whatever their situation is.”
Tracy Lawrence’s music career is continuing to blossom as he joins artists on tour this year. He sold out Ascend Ampitheater and has joined Riley Green, Luke Bryan, and Lainey Wilson onstage. He was also inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame, which is one of the highest honors in country music.

In addition to new music and more road shows, Tracy Lawrence is most excited about what 2025 will bring for his family. Lawrence said, “My wife and I are getting ready to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in January. We have two beautiful daughters, one is 21 and one's is 23, and my oldest daughter just graduated with her master's degree from Western Kentucky and my youngest daughter is getting ready to start sound engineering school in January. So I'm excited about all that. I mean, my life is really blessed.” He balances the roles of being a dad, touring musician, philanthropist, husband, and friend with ease and lives his life with gratitude at the forefront. As you step into this holiday season, we hope you take some advice from Tracy Lawrence.
Gratitude is the greatest gift of all and if you can help others this holiday season, it will bring you the most joy.
Great heart and great voice!
