Charley Crockett is doubling down after removing the “Satanic” group Twin Temple from his ongoing tour last week.

Austin-based country singer Charley Crockett has doubled down on his controversial decision to remove rock doo-wop duo Twin Temple from his ongoing “Age of the Ram” tour. Following a flurry of immediate online and media responses, the Los Angeles-based group, comprising married couple Alexandra and Zachary James, expressed disappointment over being removed from the two shows on social media.
“Today we were informed that Charley Crockett has decided to remove Twin Temple from his upcoming shows next week due to our Satanic imagery,” the duo shared via social media. “We’re grateful for your support, not only of Twin Temple, but more importantly of artistic freedom. HAIL SATAN! 93/93.”
Two days after making the announcement, Crockett spoke publicly about the situation.
“I thought they were like Black Sabbath, but they ain’t,” Crockett said in a statement published by Billboard. “Not today, Satan.”

Following his initial statement, Crockett continued to double down on his beliefs.
“I won’t conform and I’m not sorry. There are many things I’ve done in my life to apologize for but this ain’t one of them,” Crockett wrote in a social media post that has since been deleted. “I might wake up at 1 p.m. on the back of that bus and find out that the opener ain’t working for me that night. Tough luck. Life is hard. This ain’t no temp agency. Get to stepping.”
Since the incident, reactions have been pouring in from all corners of the internet. Some have commended Crockett for maintaining a “backbone,” while others have encouraged the singer to step away from social media, arguing that his multiple responses have only made the situation worse.
“I don’t give a damn whether you think I’m right or wrong,” Crockett shared. “God is the fabric that ties all life together. No need to even define or institutionalize it.”
In a surprising turn of events, longtime Nashville resident and White Stripes frontman Jack White reached out to Twin Temple in an Instagram post, asking the duo to open for his show at the Hollywood Palladium.
“Twin Temple, would you like to open my show in L.A. on September 29th at the Hollywood Palladium?” White wrote in an Instagram post. “Let me know.”
Twin Temple readily accepted White’s offer, stating, “It would be a most infernal pleasure to play the devil’s music with you.”
