Did You Know Chris Stapleton Went To School For This?

Although Chris Stapleton is one of the most successful award-winning and touring country artists, he didn't initially intend to become a country singer. Before his breakthrough album Traveller in 2015, Stapleton was actually pursuing a degree in biomedical engineering.
Stapleton moved to Nashville in 1996 to attend Vanderbilt University and study engineering. His father was an engineer, so he thought he would follow a similar path. However, after a year at Vanderbilt and lacking enthusiasm for his studies, Stapleton returned to Kentucky and dropped out of college entirely.

In 2006, he joined The Steeldrivers and later formed the Jompson Brothers. In November 2010, he decided to embark on a solo career and released his first self-titled album.

It's remarkable to consider that Stapleton could have been a biomedical engineer. We're certainly glad he chose to pick up the guitar instead!
