After a lengthy silence, young country prodigy Mason Ramsey has returned to the public eye. He recently announced his comeback on social media, debuting his first post in nearly six months.

“I took a much needed break from social media so I could get my business and head on straight,” Ramsey wrote on Instagram.

Before establishing an image as a country prodigy, Mason Ramsey introduced himself to the internet as the “Walmart yodeling kid.” In 2018, he went viral for singing “Lovesick Blues” by Hank Williams in the aisle of an Illinois Walmart. Since then, he’s used his viral platform to catapult into country stardom as a teenager. Now 19 years old, Ramsey has racked up a slew of hits, including “Twang,” “Blue Over You,” and “Before I Knew It,” which went viral on TikTok in 2023. He also went viral for his verse in the 2019 remix of Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ hit “Old Town Road.”

Ramsey was active on social media for a few months following the release of his most recent single, “Live Lonely” in February 2025, but went radio silent in late July. On Jan. 6, he made a subtle return across his platforms.

“Last year was one of the most difficult years of my life,” wrote Ramsey. “My label dropped me, my agency left me, and I had to part ways with my manager.”

Ramsey reassured his fans that, even though he experienced a tremendous amount of career setbacks this year, he’s not one to give up without a fight. Instead of retreating from the limelight completely, he’s been silently rebuilding his dreams.

“Since then I have brought on a whole new team and have been making music that I have never been more excited about,” wrote Ramsey.

In a Jan. 9 post, Ramsey revealed that he’d been in the studio for a while and wanted to share an acoustic snippet of a new song he’s been working on, titled “At This Point.”

Ramsey has since promised to be “a lot more active” on social media from now on, hinting that new projects are on the way.

“I can’t wait to share everything I’ve been working on and to get back on the road.”
