Morgan Wallen caused a scene during his show at Empower Field in Denver on Friday night after angrily pushing over a piano onstage. Videos posted on social media show the two-time Grammy nominee finishing a performance of “Sand in My Boots” before walking over to the piano and flipping it, seemingly damaging the instrument.
According to audience members, Wallen was unable to hear the piano during the final stretch of the song and was forced to finish the tune a cappella.
Social media users wasted no time commenting on the situation. Many called Wallen’s behavior “unprofessional,” while others accused him of having anger issues. Some fans, however, defended his actions as understandable given the technical problems. “Paying to have your instruments professionally set up and they don’t work is a valid crash out,” one Instagram user commented.
The onstage incident comes just over two years after Wallen was arrested and later pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment after throwing a chair from the rooftop of Chief’s on Broadway in downtown Nashville, nearly hitting police officers below.
“I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility,” Wallen said following the 2024 incident.
Wallen has not released a public statement regarding Friday’s episode. The next stop on his Still the Problem Tour is scheduled for June 5 in Pittsburgh.
