Gavin Adcock Isn’t Quitting Anytime Soon on 'The Day I Hang It Up'

Gavin Adcock released his latest single, “The Day I Hang It Up,” this Friday, pairing the new music with the surprise that this song will be the title track of his upcoming album.
The Day I Hang It Up is scheduled to arrive Oct. 2 and will feature 25 tracks, including previously released songs “Wannabe” and “Cheap Thrills,” featuring Hudson Westbrook. The title track also shares its name with Adcock’s current headlining tour, which continues across North America through November.
The Georgia native has become one of country music’s most outspoken emerging artists, building a following through his rowdy live performances, rough-edged vocals and country-rock sound. His rise has also been accompanied by controversy, including public disagreements and unfiltered comments that have regularly sparked conversation across the country music world.
Adcock recently brought that same unpredictable energy to an episode of Fort Nash’s “Pour Decisions,” hosted by comedian Danae Hays. Filmed at The Fort by Fort Nash during CMA Fest, the conversation quickly got wild as Adcock opened up over a few drinks and faced the show’s increasingly bold questions.
Despite the noise surrounding him, Adcock has continued to consistently and resiliently release new music. He released the 24-track Own Worst Enemy in August 2025 before returning in March 2026 with Country Never Dies, a collection honoring classic country songs and the traditional sound that continues to influence his music.
“The Day I Hang It Up” delivers the gritty, rock-heavy country style listeners have come to expect from Adcock. Driven by his signature scruffy vocal, the song centers on perseverance and authenticity, brushing off criticism and continuing to chase his career until he is physically unable to do so.
In announcing the album on Instagram, Adcock reflected on five years spent writing songs, confronting personal struggles and living on a tour bus.
“Some artist come in, make a couple records and disappear for the rest of their life,” Adcock wrote. “For me? Imma be doing this shit till the day I die.”
The title track does not mark a dramatic reinvention for Adcock. Instead, it doubles down on the defiant personality that has defined his career. He is not hanging it up anytime soon, and “The Day I Hang It Up” makes that promise unmistakably clear.
