Later comments suggested the device may have belonged to a fan who gave the phone to the guard in an attempt to get a closer video. Regardless of who owned it, the clip spread rapidly online and sparked another wave of criticism.

Just one day after the phone incident, Wallen canceled the second of his two scheduled Pittsburgh stadium shows. The singer cited severe weather concerns and potential safety risks associated with the large stage production. However, some fans questioned the decision after the weather appeared to be completely fine in the area.
