With this year’s Grammys award ceremony just around the corner, fans are getting excited about performances from Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and more. But one performance you won’t want to miss is the all-star tribute to the late legend, Ozzy Osbourne. The tribute will feature Post Malone, Slash, and Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Andrew Watt.

The chosen participants in the tribute come as no surprise to Ozzy fans. All of the artists appear in the personnel of Osbourne’s 2020 studio album, Ordinary Man, and have performed with him on multiple occasions. Slash, McKagan, Smith, and Watt all made appearances on stage last year in Birmingham, England, to play the benefit concert, Back to the Beginning, supporting Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath.
Post Malone fans will remember his 2019 hit, “Take What You Want,” which featured Ozzy Osbourne and rapper Travis Scott. The track charted for twenty weeks, making it to No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. Post claims he was “terrified” meeting one of his idols, Ozzy, for the first time. Even before his recent transition into country music, Post Malone had dabbled in the rock genre, making and maintaining a friendship with the godfather of metal music to last forever.

Ozzy Osbourne has made a lasting impact on the world of music ever since he pioneered the world’s first metal band, Black Sabbath, in 1968. His influence transcends genre, evidenced by his wide array of tributes online and onstage. The “Prince of Darkness” passed away July 22nd of last year at the age of 76 following an ongoing battle with coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s.
The Grammys have received much criticism in the past for perceived neglect of rock and metal music from the main televised award ceremony. One specific instance includes the tribute to legendary guitar virtuoso Eddie Van Halen, back in 2021, which only featured his guitar, followed by a short, fifteen-second video, but no musicians onstage. Grammys producers faced a lot of backlash after the incident. We are hopeful that Posty’s epic tribute lineup will not let us down and will leave fans with nothing but awe. Long live Ozzy.
Tune into the Grammys to watch Post Malone’s much-anticipated tribute to Ozzy Osbourne.
